Dainius Vaičekonis
Dainius Vaičekonis is an accomplished pianist and recording artist in the US and Europe. He was a soloist with the Lithuanian National Symphony, the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University orchestras, Federal Way, and Butte Symphony, Montana, and many other orchestras of the Pacific Northwest. He was the winner of the F. Walton Award Tour Competition, and in the International Schubert Competition in Dortmund, Germany.
Dainius Vaičekonis studied and gained degrees from the Lithuanian Academy of Music (BMA), the Mozarteum Academy in Salzburg, Bowling Green State University, Ohio (M.M.) and the University of Washington (D.M.A).
Dr. Vaičekonis organized the Godowsky Festival in Seattle, celebrating the composer’s 150th birthday. He performed and recorded Godowsky’s suite Triakontameron and the piano sonatas Op. 109-111 by Beethoven, which is released by Centaur Records. He has performed as soloist and a collaborative artist in Benaroya’s Nordstrom Recital Hall, Meany Hall in Seattle and on the classical radio station KING FM and KUOW, the Corvallis-OSU Piano International series, concert tours in Lithuania, Indonesia, Israel and USA, and in festivals in Washington state and Ohio.
Dr. Vaičekonis judged ENKOR, MTNA, UW Concerto, Francis Walton and other competitions in the Pacific Northwest. He is Associate Professor and head of keyboard studies at Seattle Pacific University.
