The Seattle Piano Institute – an advanced summer piano camp in a unique urban environment.
Piano Camp – We mix the best features of camp: group activities, new experiences and individual goal setting, with a focus on piano and musicianship.
Environment – With downtown Seattle close by, the University of Washington campus offers SPI students both proximity to Seattle’s cultural center as well as a beautiful campus setting.
Community – Audience members at public events include Seattle residents, UW faculty and staff, SPI board members and current and previous UW students. Returning students and audience members meet each other at receptions and master classes, building connections that last beyond piano camp.
How we are different – All activities are directly related to helping pianists develop their abilities and understanding. Even when practicing, students have assigned rooms for each hour and waste no time looking or waiting for an open room. Taking advantage of the urban setting, we attend Seattle Chamber Music Festival concerts in downtown Seattle with Session 1 students and Session 2 students have campus excursions during the day with Institute staff. Finally, we create an intense schedule that gives students a maximum amount of high quality experiences in a short amount of time.
Who should apply – Advanced piano students looking for a summer piano camp that allows for a high level of individual study and attention as well as time to form new relationships with other students and faculty. Interested? Please follow this link: How to apply.
